Biography
Justin is professor of biomedical sciences at Anglia Ruskin University and an expert in cancer.
He originally trained in medicine at Trinity College, Oxford before undertaking a residency at Johns Hopkins.
Justin was also the NIHR’s first research translational professor of oncology and has published over 700 papers on topics from HIV to mechanisms of carcinogenesis and clinical trials, including use of biosimilars aiming to democratise access to high value drugs.
He is editor-in-chief of Springer Nature's cancer journal Oncogene, and early in the COVID-19 pandemic used AI to describe use of a new drug to treat the viral pneumonia. It was FDA approved nine months later and still has the greatest mortality benefits of any of the medicines used.
