UK inflation falls to four-month low after energy price hikes ease

Simon Francis, coordinator at End Fuel Poverty Coalition, said: “Despite the figures, this is no time for complacency on the cost of living crisis.

“Households are heading into a fifth winter of the energy bills crisis, with average household costs around £700 a year higher than before the crisis began, despite energy firms reporting multi-billion-pound profits.

“Ministers and Ofgem must now focus on practical measures that cut bills for good – including targeted financial support for those most at risk, a fully funded programme of insulation and energy-efficiency upgrades, and long-overdue reforms to Britain’s broken energy pricing system.”
