UK economy set to show Iran war impact in April from surging fuel prices

Simon Francis, coordinator of the End Fuel Poverty Coalition, said: “The data is catching up with what millions of households already know.

“While families struggle and fail to even access the support they are entitled to, price shock profiteers continue to post record results.

“Energy debt is already climbing and bills rising again from July will push thousands more households over the edge.

“The Government cannot rely on wishful thinking for a peace that may never come to close this gap.

“It needs to bring forward targeted bill support ahead of July, fund a proper energy debt relief scheme and commit to breaking the link between household energy costs and the gas market volatility driving this crisis.”
