Mark Oates, founder of consumer campaign group We Vape, said: “It is shocking to learn that Scots are living with at least one long-term health condition.
“While smoking rates being slashed is welcome news, it remains a driving factor in public health challenges in Scotland and across the UK.
“We know there are also clear links between cigarette consumption and mental health issues, so quitting, whatever your age or other conditions present, is a precious gift to your mental and physical wellbeing.
“Vaping is the most effective and one of the least harmful ways to wean yourself off cigarettes and Scotland needs health policy built on evidence.
“Supporting accessible and regulated harm reduction products, like vaping, helps the least well off, reduces the burden on the NHS and ultimately saves lives.”
