Jamie Strachan, operations director at VPZ | The Vaping Specialist, said: “We are deeply concerned by the increasing reports of harm caused by illicit products being sold as legitimate vaping devices, particularly THC vapes laced with synthetic cannabinoids such as Spice.
“These dangerous, unregulated products are flooding the market and putting young people at serious risk. This is why it is vital that the Government takes decisive action to ban pre-filled vapes and pre-filled pods.
“These disposable and easily tampered-with products have become a key entry point for criminal networks who exploit their popularity and conceal harmful and illegal substances within them.
“By removing pre-filled devices from the market, the Government can help to protect public health, reduce youth access, and restore confidence in the UK’s regulated vaping industry.
“A ban would also ensure that responsible retailers and adult smokers seeking a genuine, harm-reduction alternative to cigarettes are not undermined by the actions of bad actors selling unsafe and illegal products.”
