Vapes are ‘compromising children’s human rights’ – experts

Jamie Strachan, operations director at VPZ | The Vaping Specialist, said: “Vapes exist to help adult smokers move away from combustible cigarettes – no child should ever be using them.

“The government must do everything in its power to stop this by ensuring vaping products cannot get into the hands of children.

“We fully support stronger regulation, including measures such as minimum pricing to keep these products above pocket-money prices, and tougher enforcement against illicit and underage sales.

“We would even go as far as calling for such products to be sold only in specialist vape stores, where age verification and responsible retailing standards are strictly enforced.

“VPZ will continue to engage with government and public health bodies to make sure the Tobacco and Vapes Bill delivers the protections children deserve.”
