Strokes to rise significantly without action – charity

Jamie Strachan, operations director at VPZ | The Vaping Specialist, said: “Smoking is one of the single biggest and most preventable risk factors for stroke.

“It significantly increases blood pressure, damages blood vessels, and accelerates cardiovascular disease, placing avoidable strain on individuals, families and the NHS.

“Reducing smoking rates is therefore critical to preventing strokes, particularly among people of working age.

“For adult smokers who would otherwise continue to smoke, switching completely to regulated vaping products – which have been shown to be around 95 per cent safer than smoking – is the most effective way to quit.

“Discouraging smokers from using vaping as a cessation tool risks undermining the government’s smoke-free ambitions and makes it harder to reduce smoking-related strokes and cardiovascular disease.”
