Jamie Strachan, operations director at VPZ | The Vaping Specialist, said: “We welcome the passing of these amendments to the Tobacco and Vapes Bill, which represent a positive step towards stronger, more effective regulation of the vaping sector.
“As the UK’s leading specialist vaping retailer, we support a balanced, evidence-led approach that protects young people while ensuring adult smokers can continue to access less harmful alternatives.
“Stronger enforcement, clearer product standards and a greater focus on tackling illicit and underage sales are essential to maintaining the integrity of the market.
“We are also encouraged by the continued emphasis on responsible retailing and compliance across the sector.
“However, the government must now act swiftly to introduce secondary legislation to ban so-called ‘big puff’ devices – an issue acknowledged during the Third Reading in the House of Lords.
“These products are designed to bypass the disposable vape ban introduced last summer and are increasingly popular among underage users.
“If left unchecked, they risk undermining existing regulation and penalising responsible retailers.
“We look forward to continuing to work with policymakers and regulators to support the Bill’s objectives – protecting young people, tackling illicit trade and helping the UK achieve its smokefree ambitions.”
