Lianne Scott-Munden, clinical services lead at Denplan from Simplyhealth, said: “Oral health must be treated as seriously as physical and mental health.
“That means making dental care fairer across the country so that funding meets local needs and tackles regional inequalities.
“Despite it being preventable, tooth decay remains the leading cause of hospital admissions for five–to-nine-year-olds, with one in five parents reporting their children don’t brush their teeth twice a day.
“This is putting children at risk of long-term damage and wider health problems including diabetes, cardiovascular disease, stroke and rheumatoid arthritis in later life.
“By focusing on education, early intervention, and preventive measures, we can significantly reduce these risks and improve overall health outcomes.”
