Biography
Lawrence is chief executive officer of the Marie Collins Foundation, a specialist UK charity working to improve outcomes for victims and survivors of technology-assisted child sexual abuse.
A qualified social worker, Lawrence has worked in children’s social care and safeguarding since 2003.
His experience includes direct work with children and families, emergency social work, multi-agency safeguarding hubs and specialist responses to child sexual exploitation. He has led multi-agency work concerning children who are missing, exploited or trafficked and established an integrated child-exploitation hub within local government.
Lawrence joined the Marie Collins Foundation in 2021 and continues to undertake direct work with victims and survivors, helping ensure the Foundation’s practice, training and advocacy remain grounded in lived experience.
He is a visiting senior fellow in safeguarding at the University of Suffolk and a regular speaker and facilitator on child protection, exploitation, online sexual abuse and trauma-informed professional practice.
Lawrence has received an award recognising his work with children and families and a police commendation for exceptional safeguarding work.
