Retail horizons – operating for now, next, and later

dunnhumby has launched Retail:Vision, an opinion paper exploring how retailers can build more connected, AI-powered decision-making in an age of disruption.

The paper looks at how retailers can stay closer to customers while navigating increasing complexity across pricing, supply chains, sustainability, loyalty and changing shopper expectations.

Dave Clements, chief strategy officer at dunnhumby, said: “The retailer-shopper relationship is no longer defined just in physical stores or on the ecommerce journey, but by the cumulative experience across multiple touchpoints.

“As retailers build ever-broader ecosystems – adding marketplaces, partner services, and more – the number of touchpoints will continue to grow.

“So too will customer choice, and that creates a challenge of its own, and even more so with AI assistants increasingly removing the mental load of that choice.

“When shoppers have access to hundreds of thousands of products, the question is no longer about availability, but relevance.”
