Drink-drive incidents fall to record low

Alcohol industry self-regulator and social responsibility body, the Portman Group, reacts to the latest DfT drink driving stats for 2024.

Matt Lambert, chief executive officer of the Portman Group, said: “Drink-drive incidents falling to a record low is welcome news, however, any death or serious injury caused by drink driving is one too many.

“This data demonstrates the success of sustained public information campaigns such as THINK! in partnership with industry.

“The expanding availability of low and no alcohol alternatives is also giving designated drivers more choice to stay safely within the law, with our annual YouGov survey consistently showing that avoiding drink driving is the number one reason consumers choose these products.”
