TV presenters Chris Kamara and Ben Shephard to take on Great North Run

Laura Kerby, chief executive officer at Prostate Cancer UK, said: “We’re absolutely thrilled to welcome Chris, Ben and Jack to our team for the Great North Run.

“Team Kammy and our amazing cast of 972 runners from across the UK are a brilliant demonstration of people coming together against prostate cancer.

“They are taking part in an amazing event in the North East and each one of them will do their bit to fund more ground-breaking research and work towards a screening programme, to catch prostate cancer early and save lives. We’re incredibly grateful to them all.

“Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men. One in eight of our dads, brothers, grandads and mates will get it, and an early diagnosis can save your life.

“At Prostate Cancer UK we’re dedicated to giving men the clarity and guidance they need to navigate this disease with confidence at every step.

“And as the UK’s biggest public funder of prostate cancer research, we’re proud to be powering the breakthroughs that will make screening a reality and create better treatments with fewer side effects – giving our dads, mates, and partners the best chance of living longer, healthier lives.”
