Nick is chief executive officer at the Institute of the Motor Industry.
He is a qualified lawyer with three decades high-level automotive experience, having been the former global CEO of Polestar, head of the APEC region for Volvo Cars, and managing director at Volvo Cars in Australia and the UK.
Nick headed up Volvo in the UK, leading a 60 per cent sales increase in the company before being named as the inaugural CEO of Polestar following Volvo Cars’ acquisition of the company in 2016.
As such, he has a strong understanding of the automotive sector generally and specifically in relation to automotive technologies.
In his current role at the IMI, he is focused on the people that ensure the vehicles on our roads remain safe – the automotive workforce both inside and outside the factory gates.
With automotive technologies evolving significantly and rapidly, it is critical that the sector can attract, retain and develop people with the right skills.
The IMI is focused on championing the automotive workforce and providing the skills and accreditation to give UK motorists and businesses the confidence that the roads will be safe.
