Give dementia ‘same ambition’ as cancer care, experts urge

Ian Maidment, professor in clinical pharmacy at Aston University, says a system-wide approach is needed to deliver the required care for dementia.

He said: “With an ageing population, more and more people are likely to suffer from dementia.

“To deliver the required care, we need a system-wide approach involving health and social care working with people living with dementia and their family carers.

“Research on diagnosis, treatment and care, involving patients, family and health and social care professionals, and academics and industry partners is vital to transform care.”
