Biography

Elaine is vice-dean of the Business School at University College Birmingham.

She is committed to developing talented professionals and fostering high-performance cultures.

Alongside her university role, Elaine is a respected leadership coach and mentor and is currently undertaking a DBA to deepen her expertise in management and leadership development.

Elaine began her career as a sports lecturer at UCB, where she helped drive highly successful curriculum departments before joining the senior management team.

Alongside her academic career she also worked as a performance coach for the Rugby Football Union and the England Under-20 team.

Having earned an MSc in coaching from Loughborough University, she went on to gain her England Rugby performance coaching award and is a Chartered high-performance coach, as well as a Chartered Manager (CMI) and senior practitioner (coaching and mentoring).

Her passion for leadership led her to business coaching and an Executive MBA from Aston University.

She later spearheaded the development of UCB’s approach to internal coaching and mentoring and implemented the higher apprenticeship ‘coaching professional’ programme, enabling professionals to enhance leadership skills flexibly.

Elaine has also served as an independent college governor, project lead for the European Mentoring and Coaching Council, external examiner, and lead assessor for the Office for Students, as well as delivering leadership and high-performance training for a range of corporate groups.
