“In the UK, the majority of practices operate under a mixed model approach, this reflects how providers have adapted to longstanding challenges in NHS dentistry, including contractual constraints, workforce pressures and rising operating costs, which have made the delivery of NHS care increasingly difficult to sustain on NHS income alone.
“When preventative care is not prioritised, patients are more likely to need urgent treatment, which is more costly for both patients and practices.
“This cycle ultimately limits access and undermines long term oral health outcomes.
