UK lenders step up with £11 billion push to back British businesses

Todd Davison, managing director at Purbeck Insurance Services, said: “Much of the £11 billion in lending unlocked by UK banks to help SMEs take advantage of trade deals won’t come without the risk of a personal guarantee from the director/s of the businesses.

“It is vital SMEs understand this requirement and furthermore, that they can mitigate the risk through insurance for example.

“Any guarantee offered by UK Government is there to protect the lender not the SME.

“There should be no illusions over the security demands by banks and businesses should go into these lending arrangements with their eyes wide open.”
