# Businesses face energy bill rises of up to 80% due to Iran war price shock

By Simon Francis — 2026-03-25

Simon Francis, coordinator of the End Fuel Poverty Coalition, said: “The impact on businesses themselves are not the end of this issue.

“Cost pressures on commercial energy users get passed through to consumers in a variety of ways, for example through higher prices on the high street or higher charges for heat network customers who have fewer price protections and nowhere else to turn for energy supply.

“We have been here before.

“Every time wholesale gas and oil prices spike, households and businesses pay the price.

“That is not a coincidence, it is a structural consequence of our continued exposure on a broken global energy system.

“As well as immediate support, this is where rooftop solar and community energy projects can come in to help reduce our dependence on oil and gas for energy.”
