# New specialist crime unit to target ‘dodgy high street shops’

Mark Oates, founder of We Vape, said: “It is right for the Government to crack down on rogue traders and criminal operators. They damage both the businesses and the reputation of those acting responsibly and following the rules.

“Legitimate vaping businesses play an important role in tobacco harm reduction and in helping adult smokers move away from combustible cigarettes. It is essential that the lines are not blurred between regulated products used by millions of adults and genuine criminality involving illicit trade or organised gangs.

“The Government should now introduce its promised vape retailer licensing scheme without delay. Effective enforcement should target criminal operators while supporting responsible retailers and maintaining confidence in legitimate harm reduction products.”
