# Vapes are ‘compromising children’s human rights’ – experts

Mark Oates, founder of consumer campaign group We Vape, said: “It’s not surprising to see opponents of vaping repeating arguments that protect cigarette sales.

“It’s already illegal to sell vapes to under-18s, but we need the government to introduce a vape licensing scheme so Trading Standards have the resources to crack down on rogue traders selling to kids.

“Let’s be clear though: vaping is a gateway away from smoking, and this is shown by the rapid decrease in smoking rates amongst adults and young people who are choosing to use safer nicotine products instead of combustible cigarettes.”
