# City watchdog sets out moves to boost retail investment in shares

Andrew Prosser, head of investments at InvestEngine, said: “We welcome the FCA’s latest measures to make investing simpler, clearer, and more accessible.

“Empowering people to take informed investment decisions is a far more effective way to encourage savers to invest than punishing them with cuts to the Cash ISA allowance.

“With the ISA limit falling from £20,000 to £12,000, around 2 million savers now face extra tax on cash deposits.

“Rather than making saving harder, shifting money into Stocks and Shares ISAs can protect it from tax while giving it a real chance to grow.

“By making investment simpler, more transparent, and tailored to individual circumstances, the FCA’s proposals are likely to have a far greater positive impact than restricting savings.

“Cash may feel safe, but over the medium to long term it carries its own risks, particularly with inflation.

“Supporting informed investment is the right way to help people grow their wealth and strengthen the UK stock market.

“At InvestEngine, we have always aimed to make investing simple and transparent.

“Our website provides helpful, informative content, while our platform enables investors to manage their portfolios themselves making it easier than ever to take control of long-term wealth growth.”
