# Calls to tackle violence against workers

Ruth Wilkinson, head of policy and public affairs at the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH), said: “On International Workers’ Memorial Day, we remember the lives lost to work related accidents and ill health and stand in solidarity with the families, friends and colleagues affected by these tragedies.

“Each loss is one too many.

“This day also provides a chance for reflection and is a reminder of our shared responsibility to prevent harm at work.

“By putting prevention first – through strong leadership, effective risk management and a culture that values health, safety and wellbeing – we can prevent harm, reduce injuries and ill health and ensure that everyone can return home from work safe and well, every day.”
