# David Swales

Head of Economics and Analysis, Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board (AHDB)

David is head of economics and analysis at the Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board (AHDB), responsible for consumer and market intelligence research.

This team also undertake analysis on long-term factors which impact on the sector’s competitiveness, including undertaking modelling relating to trade deals and changes to agricultural policy.

David is responsible for the regular market information reporting which AHDB delivers across the dairy and red meat. His team provides insight to farmers and the wider-supply chain so they can understand supply and demand of agricultural commodities and the impact this has on farmgate prices.

A geographer by training, David specialised in agricultural geography and rural change while at Coventry University. Before joining AHDB, David held a number of economic and skills related research roles.
