# AI court errors would be ‘too much for society to comprehend’, David Lammy says

By Malcolm Che — 2026-06-09

Malcolm Che, head of innovation at Identity, said: “David Lammy is right to flag the consequences, but the challenge he is describing is not unique to courts.

“Most organisations deploying AI right now have no formal inventory of where it sits in their workflows, and no disclosure framework around it.

“From August 2 2026, Article 50 of the EU AI Act makes that exposure enforceable, requiring businesses to disclose AI interactions, label synthetic content, and watermark AI-generated material. The liability sits with the deployer, not the developer.

“Government is piloting carefully in criminal justice because the stakes are visible. The same rigour needs to apply across every sector where AI is making decisions or producing content that people rely on.”
