Director of Research and Engagement, Breast Cancer UK

Hannah is director of research and engagement at Breast Cancer UK.

An experienced academic and former assistant professor at the University of Bradford, Hannah drives Breast Cancer UK's scientific research programme forward.

In her former research career, she mainly focused on asbestos-related cancer, from which her passion for cancer prevention grew, and she now leads Breast Cancer UK’s grant scheme, which funds studies into the links between environmental contaminants and breast cancer risk.

Hannah is enthusiastic about ensuring public/patient-centered approaches that have real-world impact on healthcare, and through her educational work, be it providing talks, hosting their own breast cancer prevention conference or developing science-backed resources, she aims to promote and improve the focus on breast cancer prevention across all communities.

She has provided expert insight into modifiable breast cancer risk factors - and more specifically the importance of chemical exposure - in national publications including the BBC, The Observer, The Independent, The Times and The Sun, as well as being quoted in specialist environmental and health publications.

Hannah has also lent her specialist knowledge to lifestyle titles - most notably Red magazine, who have extensively cited her advice on both general risk reduction and PFAS exposure for two separate print features.
