He said: “The Cochrane findings reinforce the role of regulated nicotine vapes as an effective option for adults who want to stop smoking.

“Across 200 stores, VPZ estimates it has supported close to 300,000 adult smokers to switch away from cigarettes over the past five years.

“Our teams see the practical side of cessation. People need an appropriate nicotine strength, a compliant product and support as their needs change.

“Policy should protect this route for adult smokers while keeping vaping away from children and driving illicit and non-compliant products out of the market.”
