Head of Fisheries Standard Accessibility, Marine Stewardship Council

Amanda is head of fisheries standard accessibility at Marine Stewardship Council.

She brings to the MSC her experience of working with fisheries improvement projects in developing economies to make the fisheries standard more accessible, to support fisheries to engage with the certification scheme.

Amanda leads the MSC improvement program offering a mechanism of independently verifying the progress fisheries make towards sustainability targets tracking the improvements needed to meet the MSC fisheries standard.

With a background in tropical agriculture and international development projects management, Amanda started working with small-scale fisheries in Mexico 15 years ago.

Since then, she has been involved in several marine conservation and sustainable fisheries projects in Latino America, Africa and Asia.

She has been a cornerstone in the creation of the MSC pathway to sustainability that led to the establishment of the MSC in Indonesia and to a wider adoption of the MSC fisheries standard as a framework for fisheries improvements.

The importance of wild capture fisheries for the livelihoods of coastal communities across the world is what motivates Amanda to find solutions to make their activity sustainable for future generations.
