Amy Rylance, director of health services, equity and improvement at Prostate Cancer UK, said: “We’re saddened to hear the news that Bobby Davro has been diagnosed with prostate cancer and wish him all the very best with his treatment.

“It’s great to see he is remaining upbeat and we’re hugely grateful to him for speaking so openly about it, and raising lifesaving awareness with men across the UK.

“One in eight men will get prostate cancer, and your risk doubles if you’re black. But the earlier you find it the easier it is to treat.

“At Prostate Cancer UK, we’re dedicated to giving men the clarity and guidance they need to navigate this disease with confidence at every step.

“And as the UK’s biggest public funder of prostate cancer research, we’re proud to be powering the breakthroughs that will make screening a reality, and create better treatments with fewer side effects – giving our dads, mates, and partners the best chance of living longer, healthier lives.

“Those breakthroughs include groundbreaking research like our £60 million TRANSFORM trial which was today boosted by a further investment of £18m from the government, to find the safest and most effective way to screen men for prostate cancer, and revolutionise men’s health in the UK.”
