# Prof Ian Maidment

Professor in Clinical Pharmacy, Aston University

Ian is professor in clinical pharmacy at Aston University.

He is an internationally recognised leading academic clinical pharmacist.

Prior to moving to academia in 2012, Ian spent 20-plus years working for the NHS including community pharmacy, acute sector, mental health and dementia. He was also chief pharmacist in two NHS Trusts.

His research is focused on medication management in vulnerable populations particularly in the community environment.

Ian uses a person-centred approach to understand the challenges and potential solutions to effective medication optimisation.

He has led five grants funded by the NIHR (the research arm of the NHS) and been a co-applicant on multiple other grants.

Ian has published over 150 papers in internationally leading peer reviewed journals, including the BMJ and the British Journal of Psychiatry, and his research has won numerous awards.
