Dr Sonya Miller, medical director at TauRx Therapeutics Management, said: “The ability to move the blood biomarker testing from the research world into the real world is the challenge that we now face.

“Currently at AAIC in London there have been several presentations and discussions on how utilising the blood tests for Alzheimer’s disease have influenced diagnosis and practice with real world examples from the US and Sweden.

“Blood tests can increase the confidence of primary care physicians in making a diagnosis with figures being presented of a 30 per cent incidence of a change in diagnosis and a 60 per cent change in management following the blood results.

“Testing the impact of these blood tests in primary care is a vital step forward in helping patients receive the care they need.”
