# Dr Sonya Miller

Medical Director, TauRx Therapeutics Management

Sonya is medical director at TauRx Therapeutics Management. The Aberdeen-based company has developed a potential oral treatment for Alzheimer’s disease and is currently awaiting the outcome of a marketing authorisation application to the UK’s Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA), with a decision expected in the coming months.

She is a specialist anaesthetist, having worked as a consultant anaesthetist for 25 years.

Sonya entered pharmaceutical research when she began working as a sub investigator and principal investigator in London, focusing on Alzheimer’s disease.

She joined TauRx in 2018 as medical oversight lead, responsible for patient safety in our trials.

In her additional role as medical director, Sonya is responsible for relationships with external stakeholders and leads the information and education delivery resulting from TauRx’s research programmes.

Through these roles, she has built up significant public speaking and media experience, appearing on numerous TV, radio and podcast shows, as well as in printed media.

A respected industry figure, Sonya has also been invited to take part in Alzheimer Europe and Alzheimer’s Disease International corporate roundtable events, as well as the Global CEO Initiative on Alzheimer's Disease event at the 2024 G7 event in Ancona, Italy, where world leaders were urged to address the escalating global challenge of Alzheimer’s and dementia.
