# Young female investors’ pots ‘nearly £4,600 bigger than those belonging to men’

By Maike Currie — 2026-08-17

Maike Currie, vice president of personal finance at PensionBee, wants more women to invest after data showed young female investors were building bigger portfolios than young men.

She said: “When women invest, they bring the same habits that make them great savers: they invest regularly, diligently and for the long-term. These figures show young female investors building portfolios almost 50 per cent larger than their male peers and being more engaged once they get started.

“The gap isn’t ability but rather participation – women still make up less than a third of these young investors. The challenge is getting more women through the door. We don’t need women to become better investors, we need more women to start by making investing more accessible, seeing more women like them investing and crucially, recognising that investing is for them too.”
